Hi..
I have a problem with The settlers 2 gold edition.
I have a Geforce 9800 gtx+
And its running on Vista 32bit
When im trying to install settlers 2, i get a messege:
E:/S2/SETUP.EXE
This system does not support fullscreen mode.Choose 'Close'to terminate the application.
So i tried to start it with dosbox. But im not familiar with dosbox, and all the discriptions on the internet tells me to open the game in dosbox with c:/games/settlers. I tried to unzip the game manual, and unzipped it in D:/BLUEBYTE/SETTLER2
Anyway..i know its possible to open it with dosbox..but i don't know how to open the setup in dosbox when its in the folder D:/BLUEBYTE/SETTLER2
Please help me..so i can play this nice game again:)
(sorry for the bad english)

Do you have the latest version of Java installed? if not Try installing the latest version of java from www.java.com - then recheck if this option is there - If you use somthing like <a href="http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx" rel="nofollow">process explorer</a> then you can inspect the jqs.exe process and see where the file location is ( checking it is legit)

The official disable guide <a href="http://java.com/en/download/help/quickstarter.xml" rel="nofollow">here</a> states the disable option is in version 6 ( currently version 6 is the latest)

To install:
Mount the install target drive and your CD drive.
Change to your CD-ROM drive by typing the appropriate drive letter. (For example D: if your CD-ROM drive is drive D.)
Change to the S2 directory by typing: CD\S2.
Type Install and press Enter.

(Edited from S2 Manual)

Hope this helps people who need help installing using DOSBox

Hey Robert.

I have a problem.. I have the orginal settler2 cd and i just copied everything manually to my Hard drive. I also follow your inscrutions but everytime i want to play i have to run the setup and install the game (fair enough) However. When i want to play it i have to install it all over again and then lose my save games..etc.. so everytime i close DOSbox and when i want to play another time, i have to start on 2 world again, so i cant really proseed in the game without having it running 24/7 =/

Do you have a solution for this issue or is it just something i have to live with?

Thx

Hi,

Good article. Sophos' <a href="http://www.sophos.com/products/free-tools/conficker-removal-tool.html" rel="nofollow">Conficker removal tool</a> can detect and remove all variants of the worm/virus.

As long as people run these tools it should stop any serious outbreak.

Malwarebytes is thee #1 program for removing trojans and it's free too. I use it at work on a daily basis and it's incredibly effective. You should still run Super Anti-Spyware afterwards to do a final cleanup of the remaining spyware. Lastly, install Advanced System Care to do a system wide cleanup especially for your registry which takes a beating from any trojan/worm/dialer. All programs are FREE and available at Download.com

GenesisBoy

You could try this @ECHO OFF would get rid of any commands running - however oupput from these would still show.

You could run the Dos window minimized

1. Right-click on batch file
2. Go on 'program' tab
3. 'Run' or 'Execute' field (at bottom)
4. Select 'minimized'

Try this mate
